Los reguladores del crecimiento vegetal o PGR (del ingl\u00e9s <\/span>Plant Growth Regulators<\/span><\/i>) <\/span>son compuestos qu\u00edmicos que, en cantidades min\u00fasculas, pueden tener efectos significativos en el crecimiento, la floraci\u00f3n, la fructificaci\u00f3n y otras funciones vitales de las plantas<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Su descubrimiento y aplicaci\u00f3n han abierto un mundo de posibilidades, desde aumentar la productividad de los cultivos hasta controlar el tama\u00f1o y la forma de las plantas para fines est\u00e9ticos y comerciales.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sin embargo, <\/span>a pesar de sus m\u00faltiples ventajas y de su uso com\u00fan en agricultura, en el \u00e1mbito del cultivo de cannabis se consideran sustancias nocivas.<\/b> En las siguientes l\u00edneas exploraremos el uso de estos aditivos para plantas y examinaremos los debates en torno a su uso, incluyendo los <\/span>beneficios<\/span><\/a> y los posibles riesgos asociados.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reguladores del crecimiento vegetal: \u00bfqu\u00e9 son realmente?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A las sustancias que cuentan con la capacidad de modificar los procesos fisiol\u00f3gicos de los vegetales, tales como el crecimiento, la maduraci\u00f3n de los frutos o la senescencia, se las considera como un <\/span>regulador del crecimiento vegetal<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Estos compuestos se emplean ampliamente en agricultura y jardiner\u00eda, tanto en los cultivos destinados al consumo humano como en aquellos con finalidades puramente ornamentales. <\/span>Su utilizaci\u00f3n y aplicaci\u00f3n controladas no se considera un riesgo para la salud,<\/b> como se ha dado a entender desde algunos medios y p\u00e1ginas web del \u00e1mbito cann\u00e1bico.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Desde hace algunos a\u00f1os, circulan por internet im\u00e1genes que comparan a un cogollo muy compacto y con buen aspecto con otro de apariencia lamentable, como queriendo ilustrar, \u00a0 supuestamente, la diferencia entre el uso de PGR y el cultivo natural.<\/span><\/p>\n

No obstante, <\/span>el uso de PGR, si bien puede ser beneficioso, no hace magia y no por usar estos compuestos se van a cosechar cogollos duros como piedras<\/b> autom\u00e1ticamente. Estas sustancias, aunque influyen en los procesos metab\u00f3licos, no son nutrientes, por lo que, sin una fertilizaci\u00f3n adecuada, no dar\u00e1n resultados.<\/span><\/p>\n

El objetivo de las fotograf\u00edas anteriormente mencionadas es alertar a los consumidores de cannabis de que los cogollos muy compactos, resinados y repletos de pistilos, pero poco fragantes, son potencialmente peligrosos para la salud. Esto se deber\u00eda, supuestamente, a que esta clase de flores estar\u00eda cultivada con reguladores del crecimiento vegetal, a los cuales se tilda, injustificadamente, de cancer\u00edgenos.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bfDe d\u00f3nde surge el rumor de la peligrosidad de los PGR?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Seg\u00fan se relata en un art\u00edculo titulado \u201cWhat Are PGR\u2019s and Why Are They In My Weed?\u201d de la famosa revista estadounidense High times, <\/span>las dos sustancias que m\u00e1s preocupan a la comunidad cann\u00e1bica son el paclobutrazol y la daminozida<\/b>\u00b9.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ambas se hallaron en diversas marcas de fertilizante para cannabis sin estar indicadas en su lista de ingredientes, raz\u00f3n por la que estos abonos dejaron de comercializarse en California, ya que en este estado es un requisito legal que se indique el contenido de PGR.<\/span><\/p>\n

No obstante, esto <\/span>no significa que el paclobutrazol y la daminozida sean ilegales, sino que es obligatorio indicar su contenido en las etiquetas de los fertilizantes<\/b>. De hecho, el primero se usa ampliamente en fruticultura.<\/span><\/p>\n

Por su parte, <\/span>la daminozida tambi\u00e9n fue ampliamente utilizada durante d\u00e9cadas<\/b>, hasta que se dej\u00f3 de producir a gran escala debido a una campa\u00f1a medi\u00e1tica en su contra. Esta sustancia, tambi\u00e9n conocida como Alar, figura en el imaginario colectivo estadounidense como algo muy da\u00f1ino.<\/span><\/p>\n

Esto se debe a que estuvo a punto de ser prohibida por la EPA (<\/span>Environmental Protection Agency<\/span><\/i>) porque <\/span>se tild\u00f3 de cancer\u00edgena por parte de m\u00faltiples medios de comunicaci\u00f3n en una gran campa\u00f1a medi\u00e1tica<\/b>, conocida hoy en d\u00eda como <\/span>The Alar scare<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No obstante, <\/span>a pesar de las cr\u00edticas y bulos que se lanzaron para aumentar audiencias, no se le puede atribuir ni una sola muerte<\/b> y se considera muy d\u00e9bilmente cancer\u00edgena, porque deber\u00eda consumirse en cantidades ingentes para que llegue a provocar c\u00e1ncer.<\/span><\/p>\n

En cuanto al paclobutrazol, se ha llegado a afirmar que afecta negativamente a la fertilidad masculina. No obstante, este rumor se basa en una investigaci\u00f3n que estudia la espermatog\u00e9nesis en una determinada especie de pez bajo la influencia de este compuesto\u00b2, raz\u00f3n por la que no se puede establecer relaci\u00f3n alguna con el ser humano.<\/span><\/p>\n

PGR y cultivo de cannabis con CBD<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Contrariamente a lo que algunos cultivadores con malos resultados han pretendido hacernos creer, <\/span>las flores compactas y de buen aspecto no se deben exclusivamente al uso de sustancias t\u00f3xicas.<\/b><\/p>\n

En primer lugar, porque <\/span>los PGR, empleados de manera responsable, no son da\u00f1inos<\/b> y, en segundo lugar, porque los reguladores del crecimiento vegetal no determinan el aspecto de un cogollo.<\/span><\/p>\n

La apariencia de las <\/span>flores de cannabis<\/span><\/a> depende de varios factores, siendo la gen\u00e9tica el m\u00e1s influyente de ellos. <\/span>Otros aspectos con bastante influencia son la fertilizaci\u00f3n, la calidad del suelo o sustrato y la frecuencia de riego<\/b>. Un cultivo que no cuente con una buena gen\u00e9tica y que carezca de los nutrientes adecuados o de agua, nunca dar\u00e1 lugar a buen producto final, por mucho que se usen PGR.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finalmente, cabe mencionar que <\/span>no todos los promotores del crecimiento vegetal son de origen sint\u00e9tico<\/b>. Muchos fertilizantes org\u00e1nicos incorporan fitohormonas (hormonas vegetales) que promueven el desarrollo y la formaci\u00f3n floral de manera natural.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los cogollos de nuestro cat\u00e1logo proceden de cultivos 100% org\u00e1nicos y ecol\u00f3gicos. Los cuales ofrecen buenos resultados sin necesidad de PGR de origen sint\u00e9tico, motivo por el que el aspecto de muchos de ellos es inmejorable. Eso no se debe al uso de productos qu\u00edmicos, sino a que <\/span>nuestros proveedores trabajan con las mejores gen\u00e9ticas, cuidando al m\u00e1ximo la fertilizaci\u00f3n y el riego<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Por \u00faltimo, te recordamos nuevamente que los productos con <\/span>CBD<\/span><\/a>, como los cogollos, no est\u00e1n destinados al consumo humano, ya que esto incurrir\u00eda en uso inadecuado de los mismos.<\/span><\/p>\n
