What is CBG?

Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, which means it won’t drug you. 

It is usually converted to CBD and THC as the hemp plant grows, but some industrial hemp strains are specifically bred to produce high levels of CBG to take advantage of its beneficial effects. Like THC and CBD, CBG reacts with cannabinoid receptors in the human body, but each cannabinoid provides different effects.

What is the difference between the CBG flower and the CBD flower?

CBG stands for Cannabigerolic Acid, which is the base that is converted to Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCA), the precursor to Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA), the precursor to CBD. Most hemp strains contain only small amounts of CBG, but new CBG-rich hemp strains are now available. Because CBG hemp flower is still a less common variety, it often has a higher cost.

CBG is the mother molecule of THC and CBD, which have different molecular structures and different interactions with the endocannabinoid system. Unlike THC, CBD and CBG are not psychoactive, which means they will not make you high. Our CBG hemp flower contains less than 0.2% THC.

Separately, each cannabinoid has its own beneficial properties, many of which overlap. When CBD and CBG are taken together, the benefits of CBD are believed to last longer and are more pronounced. CBG is also supposed to amplify or synergize with the other cannabinoids and terpenes in full spectrum products.

Furthermore, since they contain less than 0.20% THC, they are completely legal throughout Europe, and have no psychoactive effect of any kind.

Matterhorn CBG Aroma
