CBD sprays are made from coconut MCT oil, enriched with full spectrum hemp flower extract. They therefore contain all the active components of hemp such as cannabinoids and terpenes. In addition, they also feature 100% naturally sourced flavourings to mask the earthiness of CBD.
CBD sprays are small bottles of CBD oil with a spray nozzle. Typically, most CBD oils are sold in a glass bottle with a dropper for dosing. However, CBD spray dosing has its own unique characteristics and may have certain advantages over using a dropper.
The Mini CBD sprays offered by The Tree CBD are made from coconut MCT oil, full spectrum cannabis flower extract, flavourings, and terpenes. It’s therefore an all-natural organic product.
Coconut MCT oil is extracted from coconut oil by a process that removes the harmful fats it contains. This results in a completely plant-based oil that’s free of unhealthy compounds such as long-chain triglycerides, alcohols, and other chemical by-products.
Apart from coconut MCT oil, our CBD sprays contain full spectrum hemp flower extract. In other words, they contain a cannabis derivative that has all the cannabinoids and terpenes of the cannabis plant, alongside CBD. Therefore, this oil contains CBD, CBDE, CBG, CBN, and THC within legal limits, among other cannabinoids, as well as over 40 terpenes that are naturally present in the plant.
The Tree’s CBD Mini Sprays are available in a 2.5 ml size bottle, making them easy to carry around. Also, because they’re small in size, their cost is in line with how much CBD they contain, so they’re cheaper than other CBD oils.
Although there are no laws specifically prohibiting the sale of CBD for oral consumption, it’s not allowed in many EU countries. This is because new food supplements to be marketed in the European Union must be approved by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority).
Compounds that have no history of being consumed for a period of at least 25 years will be regarded as novel foods or supplements. According to the EFSA, cannabinoids such as CBD would fall into this novel food group. This body has received several applications for approval of CBD as a food supplement. However, it suspended further work on the issue in the summer of 2022, pending new data¹.
That said, it’s up to each EU member state to decide whether or not to comply with the EFSA’s recommendations. Therefore, the sale of CBD for oral consumption isn’t prohibited in all EU countries. The Netherlands is one of them, for example. Moreover, in other non-EU territories, such as Switzerland, Canada, and the United States, CBD for oral consumption is legally permitted, and is one of the most widespread forms of consumption.
Nevertheless, in the EU, due to the current legal framework, CBD oil can only be sold for topical application, even though it’s the same product that’s ingested in other countries. It’s therefore understood that users who consume CBD oil orally or sublingually would be misusing the product.
The application of CBD oil as a spray can have several advantages, both topically and sublingually. The main difference between a spray and a dropper is the size of the oil droplets.
In terms of topical use, as the drops from a CBD spray are smaller than those from a dropper, they’re distributed more evenly. It also reduces the possibility of the oil dripping outside of the target area, making it much easier to apply.
With regard to sublingual administration of CBD oil, it has been found that how long effects last may vary depending on the size of the drops. When sublingual CBD is administered using a spray, it’s absorbed faster and its effects last longer. However, with administration through drops, higher concentrations of CBD in the blood are achieved, albeit for a shorter time².
As explained above, European legislation only allows the sale of CBD products for topical use or for inhalation, or vaping in e-liquids or disposable vape pens. Any other form of consumption, including under the tongue, would be considered misuse by the user.

As discussed in the previous section, CBD sprays can be used both topically and sublingually. However, as also explained above, the sale of CBD oil for oral or sublingual consumption isn’t allowed in Europe. Therefore, here we’ll explain how it’s used in those countries where this is permitted, for information purposes only.
First of all, if you want to apply CBD oil topically, simply spray it on clean skin and massage it in until the product is completely absorbed. This should ideally be done two to three times a day.
Moreover, for sublingual administration, you should calculate the required dosage before proceeding. Also, avoid eating before and after taking it, leaving 15-20 minutes before and after consumption. This administration method isn’t legal in Europe, although it is permitted in other countries, such as the United States, Switzerland, and Canada.
After spraying under the tongue, it should be held there for about thirty seconds to one minute without swallowing. You’ll begin to feel the effects within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it.
As for the duration, when CBD is taken under the tongue, in doses between 5 mg and 20 mg, the effect can last up to eight hours, according to a study published in 2004 in the Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics³.
